This glossary is intended to help understand a little more the metal terms that are used daily in architecture.
Metal channel
Noun
It is a strip of rolled metal that has been molded into a tube or a U, J, or C shape for use in various industrial applications, such as construction.
Example: The house slab was built from a system of metal channels as structural support

Metal decking
Noun
Metal decking is a thin sheet of high-strength galvanized steel used in floor and roof construction. Also known as a steel deck.
Example: For the project, the metal decking
It was used as the main element of the building slab.

Metal framing
Noun
It is a system in which most of the elements or parts that form it are made of metal.
Example: Mexico manufactures quality metal framing support systems

Metal panel
Noun
They are sheets of painted or natural metal of different thicknesses, normally made of metal and aluminum, but other materials such as steel, zinc, copper, stainless steel or titanium can also be used.
Example: This metal panel can be easily moved without any effort on the construction site.

Metal rod
Noun
Metal rods are metals and alloys designed in the pattern of round bars or rods, rectangular or flat bars, square bars, hexagons, and other bar patterns. These shapes also come in a billet form and generally include a cross section based on the rod or bar shape.
Example: The column is straightened using a metal rod for reinforcement placed in the wall.

Metal roofing
Noun
It is a roofing system made with pieces of metal, tiles or panels. A metal roof is a part of the roof envelope that is the physical separation between the interior and exterior of the building.
Example: The grandstands will have metal roofing colors supported by columns.

Metal stud

It is a metallic piece that can have different lengths. It is a uniting element. This metallic element goes through perforations that allow to join and fix things.
Example: The wall was confined by drywall and attached with metal studs.

Metal tubing
Noun
It is a pipe that is made of metallic elements or alloys and is designed for specific industrial applications.
Example: The design of the cover was made with metal tubings and canvas.

Steel framing
Noun
Set of elements that form the resistant part of a construction. The steel structural system is based on a framework or skeleton whose components are mostly steel columns and beams.
Example: The wall was connected to the steel framing, which was anchored to the ground

Steel rod
Noun
It is a rod with a kind of "corrugated" edges on its surface to improve adhesion to the concrete and keep the structure with these edges without movement.
Example: The staircase was assembled with steel rods as supports embedded in the wall.
